Strange casting decisions aside, I must admit, this teaser trailer is pretty badass:
The Last Airbender is an upcoming 2010 live action fantasy film based on the first season of the Emmy-winning animated television series Avatar: The Last Airbender.
The movie is the first film in the planned The Last Airbender trilogy. It will be marketed and released by Paramount Pictures, and Nickelodeon Movies. The series, influenced by Asian art, mythology and various martial arts fighting styles, was created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. Adapted, directed, and produced by M. Night Shyamalan, the film will star Noah Ringer, Nicola Peltz, Jackson Rathbone, and Dev Patel as Aang , Katara, Sokka, and Prince Zuko, respectively.
Filming began in mid-March 2009; the movie is scheduled to be released in The United States on July 2, 2010.

me and my sister love avatar and want to see the movie but we hate the fact that the cast of the movie looks nothing like their cartoons. For one thing, Princess Uae is not asian, and zuko is not indian. I understand if you are trying to “diversify” the cast but how about using the diversity you already have like the fact that katara and sokka are alaskan (not white) and hence have BROWN skin. But anyway, thanks for listnening.
Alaskan? You mean American? or Inuit? either way your completely off base. The Avatar world is completely different than ours, there’s no relation to real world geographical locations, they are simply water tribe, or fire nation, or earth kingdom, or whatever. Whatever nationalities are in it, it can’t possibly match the TV series as there is simply not enough time. We’ll just have to enjoy it as it is presented.
I’m going to be investing my time in feeding this leisurely Blog with inspired things (from New Zealand and Abroad) you never knew you wanted to know. So check back here on a regular basis okey-day!
